Canada’s oil and gas industry is evolving; it’s innovating and adopting new technologies to lower costs, increase efficiency and productivity and reduce its environmental footprint. We support unemployed or underemployed workers to explore ways to redirect their careers into emerging occupations, different work arrangements, a broader energy sector and different industries. Pat Hufnagel-Smith and Cheryl Knight have developed the Energy Career Transition and Employment Resource and labour supply intelligence to help close the gap between available talent and skills required by the emerging economy by: • Providing job seekers an assessment of employment opportunities based on their transferable skills, knowledge and experience. • Providing employers with insights about available talent. The Province of Alberta is working in partnership with the Government of Canada to provide employment support programs and services.
