BSCS MISSION: To Transform Science Teaching and Learning through Research-Driven Innovation. Our Story - BSCS Science Learning has a rich history of impact through research-driven innovation. From our founding over 60 years ago as a curriculum development project called the Biological Sciences Curriculum Study, we have grown into an independent nonprofit, recognized as a national leader in instructional materials development, teacher professional learning, leadership development, and research. As educators, we prepare teachers to improve their practice by enhancing their own science learning and by offering powerful curriculum materials. As capacity builders, we develop leaders to create a stronger system for science learning. As researchers, we pursue deeper understandings of how teachers and students learn science through ongoing studies. And as an organization, we remain committed to transforming science education so that all students have an opportunity to learn science for their lives and careers. What We Do - Transforming science education means working for impact that is both systemic and sustainable. Our systemic approach involves work in four areas: • Developing instructional materials • Designing and delivering professional learning programs for teachers • Providing leadership development programs for schools and districts • Conducting research on science teaching and learning
