Tompkins County Department of Emergency Response
www.tompkinscountyny.govThe Department of Emergency Response (DoER) oversees County-wide emergency dispatch and communications systems that allow residents to dial 9-1-1 to receive emergency medical, fire, police, or other emergency help from any phone within Tompkins County. The 9-1-1 system, through the use of countywide communications and Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems, is able to locate callers' addresses and phone information while communicating with fire, police, and medical personnel in the field. The Department implements County Mutual Aid/Disaster Plans, which provide County fire, emergency medical, and other agency assistance when local services have exceeded their local equipment and personnel resources. In coordination with Tompkins-Cortland Community College (TC3), the Department provides training of emergency medical personnel. The Department also provides training for 16 fire departments through the Office of Fire Prevention and Control (OFPC) of New York State.
