An independent men's baseball association based on fitness, family, & fellowship through the game of baseball. The Sioux Amateur Baseball League is a participatory wood bat league based around traditional baseball, sportsmanship, playing for the LOVE of the game, and building friendships and a 'baseball family'. In other words, we like to call it "Feel Good Baseball"! The league is structured around parity amongst it's eight teams, and enjoys a 14 week season. Games are played once each week, each game 9 innings. (Or extras if necessary!) We are "weekend warriors", so there are no organized practices. The idea is not necessarily to win games (although scores and standings are kept for kicks!) Skill is not assessed or judged other than to create parity on our rosters. Come out for fun and friendship and we're good to go! Nobody gets cut, nobody's going pro, and nobody is warming the bench. The idea is to give everyone a break during the work week and provide a great family atmosphere where good ol fashioned baseball is enjoyed amongst buddies. The Sioux Amateur Baseball League, Sioux Falls River Hounds, Toros, and Skeeters also take great pride in their volunteer work in the community. Players and their families give of their time during the course of the year, working with a variety of organizations as a way to give back to a city which has given so much to them. When you join the Sioux Amateur Baseball League, be prepared to have fun, make lasting baseball relationships, and simply enjoy all the elements of this great game!
