The internationally renowned leading technical education centers Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are inviting scholars from ASEAN countries to apply for PhD fellowships to strengthen the deep and historical relations between India and ASEAN. On 25 January 2018, at the 25th anniversary of the ASEAN-India Summit in New Delhi, the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, announced 1000 fellowships for ASEAN citizens in the presence of all leaders of 10 ASEAN countries. The programme gives ASEAN citizens a choice to pursue a PhD at an IIT of their choice.
