The William & Mary Journal of Race, Gender, and Social Justice ("RGSJ") is the fourth ranked journal for minority, race, and ethnic issues and the law in the country, and the fifth ranked gender law journal. Overall, RGSJ resides in the top 150 of specialized law journals. RGSJ publishes three issues per year, with each issue featuring professional and student-written scholarly articles that provide a forum for debate without promoting a specific ideology. The Journal has a strong focus on public policy and social issues, and strives to stimulate open discussion of these issues by including a variety of viewpoints. The Journal’s scope encompasses a broad range of legal, policy, and social justice issues through an intersectional lens. Formerly the Journal of Women and the Law, our journal has existed for over twenty-five years. In 2018, the journal broadened in scope and changed its name to the Journal of Race, Gender, and Social Justice to reflect the breadth of subject matter published and prioritized. The Journal hosts an annual Symposium based on its Special Issue of the year and invites authors, legal professionals, and scholars to discuss specific topics. Recent symposium topics have included: "Power and Identity Politics: The Intersections of Marginalization and Social, Economic, and Political Ascension" (2019); “First Amendment Marketplace Morass: Free Speech Jurisprudence and its Interactions with Social Justice” (2020); and “Justice Along Borders: Social Justice and Its Intersections with Law, Immigration, and Human Rights” (2021).
