I set up TSMTY in September 2018 in order to program and execute a tour of Bali in Indonesia for my absolute favourite story telling theatre production, Orpheus, which when I saw it for the first time touched me so deeply and filled up my heart that I wanted to strive to live a bigger life and be a better human. How I came to tour this glorious, award winning show to Bali is a whole other story, divinely inspired of course. After a lot of hard work and an enormous learning curve, the tour was a success and the process of doing it unlocked lots of new opportunities over there, and also in the Uk. The name They Sent Me to You came from a fictional conversation I had with my beautiful Bali dog Chulie, when she struggled in my gate in 2014 looking for love and friendship. In the conversation I told her that I didn’t have time for her but she just looked convinced that we were supposed to be together and she said “but they sent me to you”. I knew nothing about looking after stray dogs but years on she has proven to be an absolute godsend in my life. It turned out that I needed her just as much as she needed me. The shows I want to produce will have that feel about them, like a godsend you didn’t know you needed. Something that captures your heart and changes you forever. Something that makes you laugh and stirs you at your very core, reminding you that there is something bigger and great than us always taking care of things.
