Great Indian Outdoors (GIO) has been in existence for over a decade now and continues to hold dear its founding philosophy of bringing places not found on the regular maps closer to the people of the world. That these places are always associated with the outdoors and adventure is not a mere coincidence but a well planned initiative to actively encourage all kinds of people to experience the bounty of the wondrous Indian Outdoors. The company was an unlikely start-up with its founder after an MBA and looking good to hold a prolific innings with the corporate world gave it all up to start GIO that was driven by a passion for the outdoors and adventure. The company has not looked back since and in the 10 years of its existence has extended its reach to the entire Indian Himalayas with activity led holidays that have come to be known for their novelty and innovation. GIO operates five outdoors camps in the Himalayas (More can be found in the section GIO camps) that are today the mainstay of its outdoor business by being the base for many of its varied activities that include white water rafting, trekking, Climbing, Mountain Biking, Kayaking, Slithering, Jeep Safari's and camping among others. These camps have over the years seen people from all walks of life and, ages 30 days to 80 years. The camps also provide direct and indirect occupation to over 200 local people.
