Danish Indoor Climate Labelling

Danish Indoor Climate Labelling is a voluntary labelling license for products and materials with documented low emission and low influence on the indoor air quality. The labelling license have standards for products in the phase of utilization, which makes the indoor climate label a natural part of sustainable building where the good indoor air quality contributes to the social sustainability. The Indoor Climate Label has standards for the product: There is an upper limit to how much the product can emit and further there are standards concerning the character of the emitted substances, for example the product cannot emit carcinogenic substances. Further, there are standards concerning the sensory impression of the product (smell). For ceiling products there is an upper limit to the release of fibers and particles. This is how the indoor climate label differentiates itself from environmental labels such as the Nordic Ecolabel and the EU Ecolabel, which sets standards connected to the production and disposal of a product, and to a lesser extent the influence of the product on the indoor climate.
