STAMMA, the British Stammering Association is a membership organisation providing information, resources and support to those who stammer in the UK. Stammering affects up to 3% of adults and 8% children at some point. Physically, stammering can be deeply frustrating, but the main problem, time and again, is other people's responses and the assumptions people make when they hear someone stammer. The BSA’s latest and biggest campaign is Stamma, launching this summer which aims to tackle public perceptions of what it means to stammer and remove the shame, stigma, intolerance and misunderstanding experienced by people who stammer.
