Our Mission is to support and promote the health, independence and self-worth of individuals and families in Central Virginia by providing a continuum of community-based prevention, early intervention, aftercare, and psycho-social rehabilitation services for persons affected by mental health, intellectual disabilities, substance abuse, and co-occurring disorders. Horizon Behavioral Health is the primary public behavioral healthcare provider (community services board) in the Region 2000 area. Horizon Behavioral Health has been serving individuals struggling with mental health, intellectual disability and substance use issues since 1969. Last year alone, Horizon Behavioral Health served 8,200 individuals in treatment programs and over 4,400 participated in prevention programs.
