As a Certified Minority Depository and Community Development Financial Institution our mission is to serve the underserved and unbanked/underbanked in the communities, Alameda and West Contra Costa Counties, our field of membership work or live. In response to member interest and in keeping with the guiding 7 Cooperative Principles, 2019 saw the launch of Cooperative FiQ; an on-demand financial education platform with learning modules segmented by life stages. As a SEG based field of membership, providing HR departments of member organizations and associations the tools necessary to address the financial wellness needs of their workforce is another driver behind Cooperative FiQ. Reports show financial pressures are linked to health, interpersonal, and productivity concerns. By providing financial education, both on-demand and in-person workshops, in conjunction with offering financial products and services designed to combat the predatory lending practices of payday lenders and check cashing services Cooperative Center FCU’s seeks to assist current and future members build and maintain generational wealth.
