Brian Head Town is the local government organization providing public safety, public works, land use planning, and other municipal services to the incorporated area known as Brian Head in Iron County, Utah. The organization has 15 full-time regular employees (18 full-time equivalent), a General Fund operating budget of $2.4 million, and a total budget of $5.7 million. The Town operates under a Council-Manager form of government. Brian Head is an alpine resort community located in the mountains of Southern Utah about 30 miles east of Cedar City and just a few minutes north of Cedar Breaks National Monument. The primary local economic driver is outdoor recreational tourism, led by skiing in the winter and hiking/biking in the summer. Brian Head is known regionally as the ski town for Las Vegas, but more and more of our visitors are coming from Southern California, Northern Utah, and even Arizona and Texas. By the census count, the permanent population is under 100 residents, but this figure swells seasonally. At peak times, you may find up to 10,000 visitors in Brian Head. The vast majority of the nearly 1,400 residences are vacation homes and condos. Most of the workers live a short commute away in nearby Parowan. At an elevation of 10,000 feet, the scenic value and recreational opportunities in Brian Head are unmatched. This is the place where the red rock canyons, arches, and monoliths of Southern Utah meet the powdery slopes, mountain meadows, and glowing aspen groves of Northern Utah. There is enough hiking, mountain biking, skiing/snowboarding, snowmobiling, camping, backpacking, fishing, hunting, snowshoeing, ATV-ing, etc., to set up even the most avid outdoor enthusiast for life.
