The Friends of the Domes is a private non-profit 501(C)3 support group for the Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory (the “Domes”). We promote and support the conservatory and surrounding park by creating and enhancing the visitor experience of this globally significant urban destination. By sharing our appreciation and understanding of habitats that sustain our world, we foster an environment where everyone can experience unique worldwide plant collections in a natural setting. Over the years the FOD has provided critical support for maintaining and expanding the $3.2 million dollar plant collection at the Domes, as well as for the many animals living in each dome. We have funded significant facility and grounds improvements, provide funding for the changing floral shows in the Show Dome, and operate the Domes Gift Shop. The FOD now offers all Domes education programming for families, adults, schools and scouts both inside the Domes and in Mitchell Park. FOD memberships and annual signature fundraising events bring in significant revenue to help fund all of these efforts.
