The European Archaeological Council (EAC) is an international network of national services responsible under law for the management of archaeological heritage. Membership is open to all national bodies of member countries of the Council of Europe, including where appropriate agencies in a federal context. Presently, there are 30 European countries which have delegated members to the EAC network. The EAC represents the (archaeological) heritage managers of Europe and collectively possesses much expertise on the identification, interpretation, protection, and enhancement of cultural heritage. The association has also developed links with other European organisations and networks that have an interest in the methods and goals of heritage management. The primary mission of the EAC is to support archaeological heritage management in Europe by promoting exchange of information and good practices, providing a forum for discussion, and by facilitating closer and more structured cooperation with a view to achieving common goals.
