Susan G. Komen Philadelphia
www.komenphiladelphia.orgEvery day, Komen Philadelphia works to make it possible for more women and men in our community to survive breast cancer, while also raising the funds that empower researchers to bring a global end to this disease. In 28 years, our Community Grants Program has funded approximately 176,500 mammograms for women in need and distributed more than $62.5 million dollars to local hospitals in order connect millions of women in our 15-county service area with lifesaving early detection, diagnostic, treatment, and other services. Our community grants program, coupled with our own educational and empowerment initiatives focused on an overall reduction in late-stage breast cancer diagnoses, work together to increase the number of breast cancer survivors while also establishing lifelong practices for better breast health. A recognized leader in the fight to end breast cancer, Komen Philadelphia has defined ourselves by continuously meeting the evolving needs of the breast cancer movement and taking the lead on everything from supporting the growing survivor and metastatic breast cancer communities, to closing the gap in survival rates for African Americans. The Komen Philadelphia family is one that sees no boundaries, and, while we work to save lives, we also strive to offer opportunities for all individuals to get involved in ways they are personally meaningful to them while making a measurable impact on the fight against breast cancer.
