Greenwood School (Jacksonville)
www.greenwoodjax.orgThe Greenwood School’s Mission is to provide a challenging and supportive education to middle and high school students with learning differences. Through adaptive, multisensory instruction and a positive environment, students develop the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve their highest potential in the classroom and beyond. At Greenwood School, we recognize that no two students are the same—and neither are their learning strengths and needs. That’s why we’re dedicated to providing a challenging and supportive learning environment for students who struggle with learning differences--ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, autism spectrum disorders, memory deficits, general anxiety, and many other challenges. We build relationships with our students to identify their strengths and then use multimodal instruction and assessment to maximize their opportunities for success! Our graduates earn a traditionally tracked high school diploma. Our curriculum is aligned to the Florida standards and we are fully accredited by the Florida Council of Independent Schools (FCIS). We offer a wide variety of curricular options, including honors courses and dual enrollment opportunities and enrichment programs tailored for post-graduate guidance, performing arts, computer sciences, and physical education and wellness. Our campus includes ten acres of protected wetlands, and a new trail system which not only provides access to outdoor classroom spaces, but also serves as a natural laboratory in which to apply classroom learning in ways that benefit our community and protect our environment. We also have an array of extracurricular options, from team sports (volleyball, basketball, flag football) to individual competition (archery, fencing, chess, running) and special interests (ecology, STEAM, drama). Greenwood participates in the McKay, Gardiner, Florida Tax Credit, Family Empowerment, and Hope Scholarship programs.
