PDFF™
www.pdff.infoThe Polish Documentary Film Festival is a multidimensional, interdisciplinary event devoted to Polish documentary cinema. We respect the ideas and traditions of the Polish documentary school. Out of love for its creators and masters - Kieślowski, Karabasz, Kędzierzawska, Łoziński, Ślesicki, Wiszniewski and many others - we organise this festival which aims to present the latest and most exciting achievements of contemporary Polish documentary filmmakers. WHY POLISH DOCUMENTARIES? By showing the achievements of Polish documentalists, especially contemporary ones, we offer the genesis of the whole trend. We are not afraid to return to the past, as the old Polish documentary cinema has shaped the present and future of cinematography. That is why we believe it is worth talking about Polish documentary cinema - showing what is modern, progressive, newest, and pioneering, but in tribute to the sources of a particular film formation. The Polish Document seems to be a key and focal point on the map of world cinema today. Awards at international festivals, prestigious awards, Oscar shortlists - all these are part of the world of Polish documentary filmmakers who, as tutors, travel around the world today as lecturers, academics, practitioners, and authorities. On the one hand, we have a well-deserved documentary master, Paweł Łoziński, who travels the whole world with his "Balcony Film", made at the peak of a pandemic. Or for example, Anna Zamecka, who spent ten years making her full-length film debut, which was held every two years at the most elite festival of documentary cinema, Yamagata, and "Communion" itself, had regular theatrical distribution throughout Japan.
