Notre Dame College, a Catholic institution in the tradition of the Sisters of Notre Dame, educates a diverse population in the liberal arts for personal, professional and global responsibility. The Sisters of Notre Dame founded Notre Dame College in 1922 as a Catholic, four-year liberal arts institution for women. Above all, the College strives to provide a mission-focused, values-based, private Catholic education to students who might otherwise not have access to such an experience. Over the years, Notre Dame has embraced the challenge of adapting to the changing needs of its students. Academic programs are available in more than 30 majors and include bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees, professional development and continuing education. Career-focused, experiential learning adds to the liberal arts foundation to help students succeed in the real world. Internships, research or student teaching are required for all degrees. Online learning options abound from full computer-based courses to hybrid classrooms. The Falcons participate in 22 men’s and women’s intercollegiate sports and became a full-fledged NCAA Division II member in 2012-2013. The College archives serve as official record of these and other transformations and preserve the stories of several people who have advanced the spirit and service of Notre Dame over the years. The College remains true to the charism of the Sisters of Notre Dame, who sought to provide student-centered education characterized by excellence. This Catholic tradition is apparent throughout our physical campus, including in our Christ the King Chapel, as well as in our curricula.
