Acton-Boxborough United Way supports our local community – being there in a crisis and planning for long term change. Founded in 1981 as the Acton-Boxborough Community Chest, we became part of the international United Way in 1991, while retaining our independent and local status. Mission Acton-Boxborough United Way mobilizes the caring power of community to drive positive, lasting change. United, we fight for the health, education, and financial stability for EVERY person in Acton and Boxborough. How Do We Help? With your support, Acton-Boxborough United Way has invested $4.25 million into the community through grants, community forums and impact measures over the past 30 years. We collaborate with service agency leaders and town officials to identify the greatest needs within our community. We raise funds for grants to a wide array of organizations delivering needed social services. We carefully vet these organizations to be sure they are serving the citizens of Acton and Boxborough We are governed by an all-volunteer board of community members. In our nearly 40 year history, many people who live and/or work in Acton and Boxborough have served as volunteers and valued advisors on the Board of Directors.
