Free Range Human ~ Tonia Zambrano, Fine Art
www.freerangehuman.comArtist Bio: Born and raised in Denver, as a 14 year old artist I got my first 35 mm camera and took on an in-depth study of photography. At 20 I moved to California where I studied painting, sculpture, and philosophy earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree at San Francisco State University. Later I lived on a small Caribbean Island where I honed my painting and sculpting skills. Today I live, paint, sculpt, cook, love, grow, build and write in one of Denver’s oldest neighborhoods. In addition to developing a strong portfolio of oil on canvas paintings, photographs, and sculptures, I have created large commission/installation pieces in stained glass mosaic. I am a committed artist, and have been painting since 1989. Typically I’m physically working on two or more pieces at a time, while mentally I’m working on so many more. My paintings are oil on canvas, and are primarily surreal imagery. My sculpture work includes all materials: steel, wood, clay, found objects, glass mosaics over body casts, and found objects. Now days I am experimenting with metal work and finding great joy in deconstructing old machines, watches, and computers for spare parts. I find beauty in almost everything I see. I love what I do and I enjoy the creative process. I am a dedicated artist and I try to bring the viewer intimately closer to the exotic scenes depicted in my work through both outright statements and sublime suggestion. I am inspired by many things, especially travel and not knowing where my feet will take me next. I consider myself fortunate to be a free range human. Thank you for your interest.
