Footwear Friends
www.footwearfriends.org.ukWe are a charity that helps those in need who work in the shoe industry or who have worked in the footwear industry in the past. 100% of income raised through fundraising is paid directly to our beneficiaries. The running cost of the charity is met through investment income. Set up in 1836, Footwear Friends has spent nearly 180 years aiding beneficiaries, cementing a long standing relationship with those who have given so much to the industry. Last year we issued over 50 grants to those in need, with recipients coming from mainly manufacturing, retail and repair sectors. The Footwear Benevolent Society could never have achieved such a high level of generosity over so many decades without the universal and loyal support that is has received through successive generations. With such a strong and proud heritage , the need to evolve and grow is more important than ever. As the industry has changed so has the society. It originally provided financial support and almshouses for retired workers from manufacturing who had fallen on hard times. Today, Footwear Friends provides financial help and assistance to individuals of all ages working or who have worked in ALL areas of the footwear trade from manufacturing and shoe repair to design and retail. Footwear Friends holds an annual awards event to seek out future creative design talent within the footwear industry. The winners receive a cash prize and mentoring support with prizes distributed at the Annual Awards Evening. More information on this event will be posted throughout the year. We also hold other fundraising events throughout the year which anyone connected to the footwear industry is welcome to attend. We always welcome support, whether this be sponsorship of events, direct donations, or even the donation of goods and services. Please do not hesitate to get into touch with us if you can help, or if you need further information.
