Watford African Caribbean Association

www.wacas.org.uk

The Watford African Caribbean Association is a small vibrant charity that uses local knowledge and decades of experience to transform the lives of the vulnerable, the elderly and children, whilst preserving African and Caribbean traditions. Our services help the elderly stay independent at home and more active in the community. We aim to inspire academic excellence and develop social responsibility in the children attending our school. We care for, help and empower our community. Our services include: Elders Project: A user-led project which aims to improve the health and well-being of the over 50s through a range of activities, exercise, seminars and excursions. Supplementary School: An award-winning Saturday School which provides tuition of 5 to 16 year olds of all abilities and backgrounds. Sickle Cell & Thalassaemia Support Group: A group providing support, counselling and information to sufferers and carers regarding this inherited cross-generational, multi-cultural blood condition.
