The Wirtschaftsclub Rhein-Main e.V. was founded on April 1, 1950, by young entrepreneurs and business executives at the I.G. Farben House in Frankfurt am Main. In contrast to existing associations in Germany from the prewar period, it was not an exclusive association of entrepreneurs, but rather included employed managers and executives. This prevented lobbies and created a "third place" with absolute neutrality in party-political, social, religious, and economic terms, firmly anchored in the foundations of Germany's young social-liberal market economy. The focus of the events was to be the exchange of opinions and ideas as well as establishing contact with potential business partners.
