Callaway Electric Cooperative provides electric service to approximately 13,000 residential, agricultural, and commercial meters in rural Callaway and Southern Montgomery counties. In 2022, the cooperative celebrates its 86th year in existence. Since 1936, when a group of residents in rural Callaway and Southern Montgomery counties came together to form the cooperative, Callaway Electric has strived to provide its member owners with quality, reliable electric service at the lowest cost consistent with sound business practices. The cooperative began at a time when nearby privately owned utilities would not serve rural areas, and it continues to grow and serve these areas with great pride today.
