Institute of New York was originally established in California in 1993 by a group of community leaders with various professional backgrounds. Recognizing the needs of intercultural communications and professional exchanges in the field of social work between East and West, P.E.A.R.L. Institute of New York is promoting optimal policy and service outcomes for the Pacific Rim populations through a collaborating process of education, advocacy, research and training with overseas social work institutions, organizations and practitioners. P.E.A.R.L. Institute of New York became affiliated with Silver School of Social Work at New York University in 2014 and reestablished its headquarters in New York City in 2015.
