The Flourish Drama Co. is a youth lead Drama Company that believes theatre is more than just entertainment but a channel through which audiences can be educated and inspired. Flourish began in 2009 by Tambo Silavwe as an after lecture hobby made up of young like-minded individuals, who share a passion for theatre and the arts. Their aim, to provide a professional platform for young aspiring actors, who may not have the necessary opportunities to do so. To showcase their talents, whilst at the same time, pushing the boundaries of performance by infusing all the art forms together in ways that may not have been done before telling their own interesting and compelling stories. Over the years Flourish has been relatively successful as an independent youth lead Drama Company producing over 10 productions since its creation. The first is the sell outplay “The Inside” (2010) a chilling tale about 6 youths in a detention center. Some of the successes that follow include, being the first company to sell out The Lost Theatre two consecutive nights in a row with the production “Unfamous” (2010) and also being a part of establishing the annual Leicester City Black History Month event “Roots” which has run since 2008. Of recent, the company has managed to sell out once again with their romantic comedy/drama “Matters Of The Heart” (2011) which featured in the Wandsworth Guardian and have a 4-day executive run (which sold out) of ''The Home'' at Waterloo East Flourish Drama is dedicated to using young people who may not have the necessary skills but are willing to learn and have a passion for the arts. We create a place and platform for them to develop, flourish and shine.
