National EMS Memorial Foundation
www.emsmemorial.orgWhile public safety officers from law enforcement and the fire service have been recognized for their sacrifice with national memorials, the men and women of EMS have gone without recognition for too long. With your support, we will finally give these silent heroes a fitting memorial and a permanent place for their loved ones, co-workers, and counterparts to remember those we have lost “that others might live.” A 501 (c)(3) charitable organization, The National Emergency Medical Services Memorial Foundation’s sole purpose is to establish a permanent EMS memorial in Washington, DC. It will honor, recognize and remember the commitment, service and sacrifice of the Nation’s EMS heroes who have died in the line of duty or been disabled and also of those who continue to rise to the challenges every day. NEMSMF was spearheaded by dedicated EMS providers from Boston, New York, Pittsburgh, Delaware, Cleveland and Detroit. Each of these locations could provide a suitable memorial and would be proud to do so. We agreed, however, that the prestige of the Nation’s capital makes it the most appropriate home for the National Memorial. Since its inception, the Foundation has grown exponentially and now enjoys personal and corporate support from coast to coast. After passing through the House & the Senate by unanimous consent, H.R. 1037 was signed into law by the President of the United States on Saturday, November 3, 2018, becoming Public Law 115-275.
