Waxahachie Bible Church was launched in 1981 as a church plant from Midlothian Bible Church. A group of people that were interested in seeing a ministry based in Waxahachie that would effectively teach God’s Word from a non-denominational approach. The original motto of the church reflected this need and focus which was “Teaching the Word!” Soon after the church formed they purchased their first property at 1420 W. Ross and launched the AWANA ministry for children. Dickie Dixon was the first full-time pastor and served in that role for thirteen months. Pastor Bruce Zimmerman came to WBC as the full-time pastor in June of 1985 and continues to serve as the pastor to this day. As Pastor Bruce began here the motto of the church was changed to “Committed to Christlikeness” to highlight the discipleship focus of the church. WBC was still committed to teaching the Word, but the church was not just an information disseminator. Through the teaching of the Word and the various ministries of the church, the desire was to see each person of WBC growing in their maturity and lives being transformed by God’s supernatural power.
