j&R Tutoring Academy of Indiana LLC was founded by two long time friends to focus on the needs of younger elementary aged students. Jackie Garrett and Renee Smith believe that elementary teachers today are overly burdened and can benefit from the instruction that the j&R brand of tutoring can provide. j&R Tutoring Academy uses an internationally developed school curriculum. The curriculum has been researched by over 50,000 students and aligns with the standards of the state where it is used. Additionally j&R screens for the preferred learning style of each student and incorporates that style into each lesson. Only experienced teachers certified by the state are hired as tutors. Currently all tutors have Master of Arts degrees in Education. Students are given a thorough diagnostic prior to instruction. This enables j&R to focus on the areas where a child needs additional instruction. Written assessments are completed at the end of each session. Parents receive monthly reports and children are re-tested every 90 days. j&R Tutoring Academy is child driven. We want to tutoring to be fun. We want to be the place where the child says, "Is today the day I GET to go to tutoring?"
