Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy
www.loudounwildlife.orgLoudoun Wildlife Conservancy is a local, all-volunteer environmental non-profit dedicated to promoting the preservation and proliferation of healthy wildlife habitats in Loudoun County, Virginia. We engage in four primary initiatives: 1) Environmental Education and Outreach: Hold over 100 free speaker programs and field trips annually; work with local schools to support to teachers and provide classes to students, lead a summer nature camp, engage residents through local fairs and speaking at public events. 2) Environmental Monitoring: Stream Monitoring, Amphibian Monitoring, Bluebird Nestbox Monitoring, Christmas Bird Count, Butterfly Count. A major project underway is the Loudoun County Bird Atlas. Data gathered through our monitoring is provided to organizations locally and nationally. 3) Habitat Restoration: Partner with other organizations to coordinate and execute 2-3 major habitat restoration events annually. Each project is used to restore habitat and engage local residents in better understanding and caring for local habitat. 4) Conservation Advocacy: Stay abreast of key issues and testify at public input sessions, engage members to raise the voice for wildlife through action alerts. Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy also produces a quarterly newsletter, maintains a robust website, distributes a monthly email announcement, and maintains a blog for daily wildlife news.
