As a result of a decades long civil war, and the most recent Ebola crisis, children in Liberia confront a variety of unsavory conditions on a daily basis. In addition to fighting extreme poverty, rampant unemployment, and a lack of a functioning school system, thousands of young people (children) live in conditions with little hope for their future. Save More Kids (SMK) was founded in 2013 to bring hope to children – to be a voice for them and work to improve the conditions in which they live. SMK is a recognized 501(c)3 organization for international aid and relief of youth in Liberia. We have a 3 pronged approach to fixing long-term problems in Liberia: 1. Empower young people by meeting them where they are; being visible and connected with their life. 2. Mentor their hearts, connecting their minds to open their eyes to the problems that continues to cripple their environment, and future. 3. Provide them with the resources they need so that they will become a viable solution to the problems threatening their communities! Simply put, the best way to solve long-term problems is by creating an environment where the youth and the community can become major stakeholders as part of the solution to the problems they face. Our Mission and Vision: SMK's mission is to sustain the development of urban, rural, underdeveloped communities and societies by cultivating young minds, empowering youth and establishing sustainable resources that will give the next generation of Liberians an opportunity to lead a more prosperous future. SMK's vision is to rebuild a nation by investing in a sustainable economic infrastructure that starts with the empowerment of the most valuable assets, the children of Liberia.
