Stand Up USA
www.standupusa.orgStand Up USA is committed to improving the mental health and well-being of service members and reducing the suicide rate in the United States Armed Forces. With your help, we can reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation by bringing the service members from their dorm rooms to your homes and into our communities. Our Home Base program is our primary program and will pair junior enlisted airmen with volunteer families that are located in close proximity (within 30 miles) to participating Air Force Bases for a minimum of twelve months. The intent of the Home Base Program is to recognize the unique pressures that these junior enlisted airmen face and provide them an effective solution that brings them out of the dorms and into the community, within a family environment, at least 1-2 times a month, and provide them a social support system, a "home away from home," a place to go for entertainment, nights off, and holidays. It is our sincere hope that the families and airmen develop a relationship that goes far beyond the one year commitment. Our volunteer families will commit to at least one activity with the airman per month. Within the Home Base program, Stand Up USA will sponsor quarterly activities such as BBQ picnics, holiday parties and amusement park days, etc., that the airmen and their volunteer families can attend. We want to acknowledge and extend our gratitude to the Air Force Academy for sharing details and materials on their Sponsor a Cadet Program. It is our intent to provide our program to other branches of the military as resources and funding become available. If they can serve #wecansupport We stand up so airmen #NeverStandAlone *Stand Up is a social advocacy nonprofit that support the United States Air Force that is awaiting its 501(c)(3) tax exempt status.
