Women About Biz
www.womenaboutbiz.comWomen About Biz was founded in January 2000 by Katrina D. Newby (affectionately called Trina), business consultant, success coach, motivational speaker and radio host. Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia the company originally started out as a monthly networking event to bring business women together for the purpose of sharing resources and gaining new connections. Realizing that women were looking for more educational tools and resources to start and grow their small business, workshops and conferences were added to address specific needs of the female entrepreneur. This included funding and loan resources, becoming woman-owned certified, and transitioning from employment to entrepreneur to name a few. In 2002 Women About Biz launched a full service website, which allowed women to find out about the company through searching the Internet. This increased the company’s growth tremendously and women throughout the state of Georgia were registering online and wanted to connect for small business information. The company grew to more than 1500 members. By 2006 Women About Biz was doing very well with its goal of empowering women to succeed. The company had grown to more than 2,500 registered users composed of free and paid memberships and many were outside of the state of Georgia. In 2006 the company officially went national reaching out to women across America offering teleclasses and providing more in-depth online information and resources on the subject of small business. By 2008, Women About Biz had more than 5,000 registered online users and was offering the first Women’s Entrepreneur Training Program via teleclass. Today, Women About Biz services more than 20,000 women online through its e-learning environment, social network and live events.
