The BACK-TRACK System is unique in that it is the only method of measuring an employee's exposure to accepted back injury risk factors such as unnecessary stooping. The system is designed to initiate behavioural change and reduce the incidence of poor lifting practice and exposure to posture related issues affecting the lower back. Recent research suggests that manual handling training is ineffective on its own. The BACK-TRACK system changes an individual's behaviour and helps to ensure that the advocated methods are adopted by employees.
