Making use of the Solar Energy is the main objective of my innovation, the Solar Ironing Cart as it eliminates the 300-year-old tradition of using Charcoal to heat an iron box for pressing clothes by the ironing vendors in the developing countries in Asia, Africa and South America. There could be 10 million traditional ironing carts in India, which may burn about 50 million kilos of Charcoal every day! Just imagine the number of trees cut down for making Charcoal on an industrial scale in India, in 1000’s of tons. The numbers around the world would be very shocking! The solar ironing cart could save millions of trees from becoming Charcoal, which harms the environment, pollutes the air, water and land, reduces the habitats of animals, birds, insects and bees, decreases the agriculture productivity, intensifies climate change and magnifies global warming around the world. The solution is the Solar Ironing Cart, which has a sustainable business model for the ironing vendors to stop using the hazardous charcoal, use the renewable solar energy and offer extra services to earn more money besides pressing clothes. The solar ironing cart has won national and international awards for using a renewable source of energy and having a sustainable business model for the ironing vendors to lead a dignified life in the society. The solar ironing cart is a social business on wheels - mobility towards the clean environment and green future. Most importantly, the Solar Ironing Cart has a great impact on 13 of the 15 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations (UN).
