APGC is a non – profit and non- political organisation, representing the interest of developers and operators of independent energy facilities and independent power marketers. As an association for power generation companies, our coverage encompasses generating capacity from thermal, hydro and other sources, which includes renewable products derived from biomass, geothermal, small hydro, solar, and wind, producers of highly efficient cogeneration facilities. Our aim is to promote a veritable open market opportunities and a competitive power supply industry that engenders growth and development. The Association is enabled to provide energy solutions to drive Nigeria's development, protect the environment, meet rising demand, and engender genuine competition and power Nigeria into the future. Among other things, it could suggest ways to: - Stabilize prices and protect consumers against rate spikes - by directing utilities to diversify their energy supply portfolios with a prudent balance of short and long-term power contracts; - Provide consumers with real choice, better service, more conservation options and the benefits of healthy competition - by creating a robust retail market where fair competition flourishes; and - Protect jobs, ensure reliability, safeguard the environment and increase supply to reduce prices - by building new power plants, modernizing existing plants and increasing transmission capacity.
