Established following discussions with over 100 voluntary sector representatives, The Torbay Community Development Trust (Torbay CDT) was formed with the intention of making Torbay a place where all people feel included. Our aim is to make the best use of local resources, ensuring that the many and varied talents of our community can play their fullest part. We aim to: Empower communities, building on strengths and skills through Asset-Based Community Development - ABCD Work co-operatively, not competitively Be long-term and sustainable Be accountable, communicating through a variety of media Be original and innovative Encourage co-operation and collaboration within and beyond our sector Be inclusive and anti-discriminatory Keep administration simple and bureaucracy minimal Resulting in: Better communication and co-operation across the Bay within and beyond the sector More local involvement in improving life in the Bay, starting by transforming our Town Centre neighbourhoods Improved services as we’ve all had an opportunity to be contribute to decision-making Volunteer groups achieving the highest standards of service and care with less bureaucracy and more creativity Access to Bay-wide information about what’s happening in the sector A new package of support, including fundraising, signposting and training Developing and supporting still more volunteering opportunities Greater investment in Torbay
