www.cristoreynewark.orgCristo Rey Newark High School, formerly known as Christ the King Preparatory School, is a member of the Cristo Rey Network of 37 schools nationally in 24 states, that provide a quality, Catholic, college preparatory education to under served young people who have limited economic resources and educational options. Located in Newark, New Jersey, Cristo Rey Newark welcomes students of all faiths and cultural heritages. Cristo Rey Newark promotes academic excellence, professionalism, and virtuous character rooted in Christian values through a college ready curriculum with an integrated work-study program focused on skills and experience for the purpose of transforming self and society. By the time a Cristo Rey Newark High School student graduates, he/she will have more than 1,400 hours of professional work experience, in a corporate setting, which is provided by its 60+ Corporate Partners. This model of education helps to offset tuition costs. Cristo Rey Newark is sponsored by the Archdiocese of Newark and endorsed by The Sisters of Charity of St. Elizabeth and The Marist Brothers of the Schools and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace. Today Cristo Rey Newark High School and the Cristo Rey Network schools are educating 10,933 students who otherwise would not have access to quality, catholic preparatory education. The Cristo Rey Network schools celebrate 11, 508 graduates to date.
