Sconfinando - Vite in autostop
www.sconfinandointoscana.itSconfinando is a non-profit organization working for the development of cultural and social relationships amongst people in local communities. Our main goals are: - to enhance the connection between the historical and natural heritage of the region, and the knowledge and experience of the residents living in the area. - to create opportunities for the youth to acquire a deeper awareness of the history and value of their territories. - to enhance understanding and empathy through storytelling and workshops on auto-biographic narration. Since September 2017 we’ve been collaborating with several public libraries to host regular events inspired by the experience of the Human Library project, born and developed in Europe, in which the main idea is to report social prejudice in the form of a face to face interaction between a victim of stereotypes (“human books”) and a listener belonging in the community. While implementing the project we decided to open this experience to a wider and more generic catalog of stories in order to strengthen the social impact and represent a wider variety of life experiences. In 2021 the expertise acquired gave birth to a specific format called Vite in Autostop (Hitchhiking stories) which was first experimented with in an online event in March 2021. In our projects, we give priority to the creation of a space for people to discover the social value of their life stories and promote active listening and respect free of judgment. We follow the whole process, from welcoming the "hitchhikers” and helping them to identify the core events of their life story, to organizing the public event of narration. Since January 2021 we have launched our project called “Cacciatori di storie - life stories seekers” which opens our community storytelling project to a team of young people trained to find and help people tell their stories.
