ElectriCities is a not-for-profit management services organization for public power communities in NC, SC, and VA. ElectriCities is the energy behind public power. North Carolina has a long and rich tradition of public power that dates back to 1889. Today, public power communities serve 14 million customers across the country, including nearly 1.3 million residential, commercial and industrial customers in North Carolina. Since 1965, ElectriCities has worked to protect the interests of municipal power providers like Albemarle, Benson, Greenville, High Point, Lexington, New Bern, Rocky Mount and Wilson, to name a few. ElectriCities is a non-profit organization that was originally created to give public power communities a unified voice at the North Carolina legislature. Today, we manage two power agencies that collectively own generation and provide a host of management services (safety training, emergency assistance, government relations and more) to assist local power providers. ElectriCities is headquartered in Raleigh, NC and employs about 100 energetic people who are dedicated to helping local communities deliver the value of public power. This is a public page.
