The Audi Konfuzius-Institut Ingolstadt (AKII) is a non-profit organisation for the teaching of Chinese language and culture. It is similar to German Goethe-Institute, the British Council or the French Institute Francais. It offers a broad variety of Chinese courses and cultural events. Beside this classic mission of a Confucius Institute, which is to enhance inter-cultural understanding, the Audi Konfuzius Institut Ingolstadt also promotes China-German collaboration with regard to technology, innovation, sustainability and management. This is unique amongst the more than 500 institutes worldwide. The Audi Konfuzius-Institut Ingolstadt opened in 2016 and is located at the Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt. Its main sponsors are Audi AG, Stadt Ingolstadt, Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI), Southern China University of Technology (SCUT), and Hanban (Confucius Institute Headquarters), which is part of the Chinese Ministery of Education. The AKII Microlab is a joint technical research initiative focused on developing and applying modern Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning techniques in human-centered interactive systems. From human motion tracking and biomechanics to personalized virtual reality avatars, we target applications with impact in sports technology and medical rehabilitation.
