UPI was initially a Perguruan Tinggi Pendidikan Guru (PTPG) or Teachers College which has undergone a metamorphosis to become a public university with wide-autonomy called PTNBH (Perguruan Tinggi Negeri Berbadan Hukum). Recently, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia has made serious and rigorous efforts in expanding its services for the stakeholders. In addition to strong academic endeavors, the university also manages to refine its concept and masterplan. With the financial assistance provided by the Islamic Development Bank, Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA) and other financial support agencies, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia has currently been equipped with modern infrastructure and elegant buildings within a green premise. Having all these excellent academic, infra-structure and masterplan, the university is confidently determined to be a leading and outstanding higher educational institution widely acknowledged at national, regional and international levels. As part of its tridharma (three missions of teaching, research and community service), UPI has education as its true color or core business. Formerly a teacher’s college, this comprehensive university currently offers diverse fields such as educational sciences, education-based disciplines, religion, humanities, and social sciences, both pure and applied sciences. These disciplines are proportionally cross-fertilized to support its core business of education which is based on values of religion, scientific endeavor, human right and democracy.
