www.phoenixcinema.co.uk

The Phoenix Cinema is a not-for-profit, independent cinema with charitable status, run for the benefit of the community. Built in 1910, it is one of the UK's oldest continuously-running cinemas. With a selection of first-run features, education and community programming, plus special events, screen arts and partnerships, the Phoenix is a vibrant and exciting venue to work and visit. As well as digital screenings, it has a 35mm projector and a full-time team of dedicated projectionists. Monthly tours give the public the opportunity to see behind the scenes and schools regularly visit to complement their studies. The Phoenix kiosk and cafe serve a great selection of hot and drinks, cakes and savouries which are all made in-house or sourced locally. A popular destination for hirers, the Phoenix has appeared on screen many times and has some high-profile patrons including Ken Loach, Judi Dench and Benedict Cumberbatch. Described by film critic Mark Kermode as "my idea of heaven", it is an important part of the cultural landscape of London.
