Frog & Peach Theatre Company is one of New York's most popular performing ensembles. Founded in 1996 by Members of The Actors Studio, Frog & Peach has grown from a small troupe in a west side church loft to a commanding presence on the New York theatre scene. The Frog & Peach Main Stage program presents up to 32 performances of Shakespeare's plays a season. The Main Stage program is rooted firmly in Shakespeare's First Folio, the original texts used by performers at The Globe Theatre. The First Folio retains the grit, pace, and adult appeal that is often purged by modern scholars. The Folio helps actors make the choices that are key to bringing these famous characters to alarming life. The Folio also shows when and where the characters address the audience. Sometimes called "asides," most Folio experts agree that these portions should be called "directs:" the character drops the Fourth Wall and makes eye contact as she speaks directly to the audience. It's a thrilling experience for both sides of the footlights. Renowned for beautiful acting, cinematic pace, and clarity, Frog & Peach's Main Stage program has turned thousands on to the pleasures and nourishment of Shakespeare. Tinkerbell Theatre is program of comic musical fairy tales with live performers and endearing, muppet-style puppets. Designed for New Yorkers aged 4 and up, Tinkerbell has provided a fun, interactive, first-time theatre experience to youngsters since 2009. Each title is about 35 minutes long, and each performance is followed by a puppet-making workshop on stage with the cast. With one of the most diverse audiences to be found anywhere, Frog & Peach is dedicated to those who may feel shut out (or priced out) of the cultural conversation-students, seniors, and working families.
