Vail pioneered, developed and perpetuated the concept and methodology of Well-Log Seismic Sequence Stratigraphy, the integration of High Resolution Biostratigraphy, Well-Log Signatures and 2D/3D Seismic. Dr. Wornardt refined this technology, using diversity and abundance histograms from checklists of fossils to recognize and identify age datable Maximum Flooding Surfaces, providing scientists with a method to consistently correlate Well-Log signatures and continuous 2D/3D reflectors above and below the salt. Subsequently, Dr. Vail and Dr. Wornardt initiated this methodology as a workshop in 1990, entitled Well-Log Seismic Sequence Stratigraphy. This workshop was presented to thousands of Geologists, Geophysicists and Managers in numerous countries worldwide.
