LGBT+ Family & Games Inc was officially formed in the Spring of 2018 after existing as a small community on Discord, a chat platform designed for gaming enthusiasts. The community was originally created so that LGBT+ individuals could connect and play games together under the name “Gaymers” on November 27, 2016. Over time the community grew and the staff recognized that members were interested in a wide variety of topics outside of games and so expanded the focus of the group by rebranding as LGBT+ Family & Games. The name itself is a nod to the origins of the community (LFG being a common term normally referring to those “Looking for Group” in game). Members began to vocalize how much they enjoyed the community and how the environment was beneficial to them on a very personal level. We continued to promote a welcoming and empowering environment while discouraging self-hate and self deprecation. Our Mission To connect LGBT+ individuals in safe communities across the world while also providing much needed resources and education along with personal and professional growth opportunities.
