www.art-19.com

The aim of Art 19 is to raise money to support Amnesty International’s human rights work. “Art 19 Box One” is a set of ten limited edition original signed prints that is on sale from this website. Individual prints are not for sale. The name “Art 19” is an abbreviation of Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which provides: “Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression”. The Art 19 managing directors combine through this initiative many years of experience in the fields of art and human rights – Mike Karstens (gallerist and master printer from Muenster) Burkhard Richter (retired commercial lawyer, art advisor, and curator from Dusseldorf), and Jochen M. Wilms (entrepreneur and producer of international art projects - including Amnesty International projects - from Berlin). The Art 19 team brings into the project a wealth of experience and diverse contacts in the world of contemporary art. Karstens for example has worked for decades with the leading artists in the world. His editions have been acquired by major museums around the world. Among his projects is the development of the Cologne Cathedral Window and the monumental work "Strontium" both by Gerhard Richter.
