Lanie's Hope is dedicated to serving the needs of the compulsive gambler and their families; providing education, resources, hope and treatment for the disease of pathological gambling. We envision a world in which pathological gambling is understood to be a disease vs. a moral weakness; where the pathological gambler is treated with dignity and compassion; where resources and support are available to the pathological gambler and their loved ones and where State, Federal and Private funding is available for treatment of all pathological gamblers who are WILLING to commit to treatment, regardless of their ability to pay. We are a 501C3 non-profit organization. Lanie's hope is a labor of love. General awareness of the DISEASE of compulsive gambling is nominal. We are dedicated to illuminating the disease and putting a face and voice to those in recovery and those in need of help. Gambling is now legal in 48 states and on the internet. We are NOT anti-casino, nor are we anti-gambling. Many people can enjoy gambling as recreation, and casinos bring much needed revenue to many cities and towns. We ARE here to raise awareness that 3% of the population will be afflicted with this disease for which there is no federal funding. It is our intention to do for compulsive gambling what Betty Ford did for alcoholism; Destigmatizing and humanizing the disease of problem gambling.
