Koonung Secondary College has a very strong sense of community and a culture of excellence and inclusion, demonstrated by positive interactions between students, parents and staff. Our VCE results are consistently strong and our students have access to and readily participate in a wide range of co-curricular activities and experiences. We have clearly defined goals for improvement. These goals are: - To maximise every student’s achievement and learning growth across all curriculum areas with a focus on literacy. - To create a stimulating learning environment which builds our students’ capacity for deep thinking and to increase the level of student agency and engagement within our community. I have great confidence that our dedicated teachers, motivated students and supportive parents will continue in a strong partnership which leads to a Professional Learning Community – where every member of the school community continually learns and grows. A walk through our College provides evidence of students and teachers engaging together within a calm and productive working environment. Our school motto is Excellence through Endeavour. We encourage all members of our community to be aspirational, with an intention to produce a personal best via practice and hard work. This will optimise learning and progress through persistence and effort. As Principal, I will work together with teachers and parents, to instil a “love of learning” in our students. This will enable them to be thoughtful, creative, problem solvers who are resilient and self-assured citizens with an understanding of self and others, both locally and globally.
